Fantastic read Mike - This quote is for the ages- "The most dangerous person on your team isn’t the loudest critic or the lowest performer. It’s the one who has quietly decided they don’t belong here, started to believe it, and hasn’t left yet."

"Do the people who work for you know, in their bones, that they matter to you as human beings and not just as headcount?" - This is particularly important when a reorg comes along.

"When someone new arrives, is there a deliberate effort to bring them into the tribe, or are they just left to figure out the unwritten rules on their own?" - This makes me think beyond employees. Contractors, freelancers, and agency workers are often embedded in teams for many months, yet the belonging architecture rarely includes them. They have to decode the unwritten rules alone, and unlike a new hire, they arrive already categorized as different: different contract, different badge, different conditions.
