This is a balanced perspective. Re-platforming is often treated as a technical upgrade, but the opportunity cost is easy to underestimate. In many cases, improving the existing platform incrementally delivers better ROI than a full rewrite. That said, when the current architecture genuinely limits scalability, security, or innovation, a well-planned migration can be the right long-term investment. The key is making it a business decision, not just a technology decision.

Curious about your take on the Southwest Airlines debacle. I suspect the engineers were probably advocating for modernizing a long time ago, but the business couldn't figure out how to justify it...
